Welcome to the new and updated site of the portrait
artist Tracy Scott-Murray.
We hope you like it.
Born
in Llangollen N. Wales (UK), Tracy moved to Maine in 1998. She me and
married a local police officer from Gardiner, where she currently lives.
Tracy
has had no formal art training apart from what was taught in junior
school!. People often ask her 'How do you draw so well'? You must have
gone to college for a long time to be able to do that!. The answer is
always the same. No.
Fascinated with the art she was seeing
emerge around the internet, she tried her hand at computer graphics,
but there were far too many better 3D artists around, who were
producing fanastic 3D renderings. Such as ALPC
(the All night Light and Power Company)
She found a book of drawings called BBLAHBLAH, flipping through the
pages she saw many beautiful drawings. One in particular caught her
eye. On page BLAH there was a drawing of 2 medieval women. With plaited
hair. Thats it, that's what she wanted to do.. But where to start...?
Pencils!! She bought many pencils and started to doodle. Why was this
SO much harder than it seemed? Her first few drawings were poor at
best. One of her portraits, a woman, looked more like Quasi Modo!
